Michael Hatrak is affectionately known in the circles of professional athletes as a “Miracle Man”, “a Genius” for the results he has been able to deliver in the area of sports injury treatment and prevention.
A man passionate about eliminating chronic bio-mechanical injuries, Michael Hatrak has been in practice for over 35 years specializing in sports medicine and performance. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1976 from New York Chiropractic College (Columbia Division). In 1979, he was a professor at Pennsylvania Chiropractic College while maintaining a private practice in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
After years of research Michael Hatrak came to the realization that Chiropractic care alone wasn’t enough to deliver the corrective care needed for professional athletes and the large increase of the “weekend warrior” crowd. Realizing there was a missing piece to the methods of treatments, Michael Hatrak discovered a man by the name of John Patterson, an extraordinary individual with an uncanny ability to see interrelationships within the body’s bio-mechanical structure. Mr. Patterson shared his passion for finding the missing link. Michael Hatrak studied with him, learning the guiding principles of his technology and later they joined together to call this unique system SRT (Synergy Release Therapy).
Michael Hatrak owes his success to his friend and mentor, John Patterson who is the founding developer of this unique, one of a kind therapy that allows athletes to perform at their optimal level.
In the last 20 years the SRT team of doctors and practitioners have worked with over 400 NFL players from over 27 teams as well and pro athletes from all sports, keeping them at the top of their game.

His abilities allowed him an amazing opportunity to work on the elite athletes of the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, and PGA since 2009.

Lewis “Mac” Smith D.C.
Lewis Smith well known as “Mac Smith” grew up here in Forsyth County. He attended South Forsyth High school graduating in 1998 with a scholarship to play college football. While playing collegiate football he suffered a back injury and quickly tried to find ways to recover. After visiting many different doctors with no results he was finally convinced to visit a chiropractor. After just one visit with his Chiropractor, he was able to play the next day with no pain. It was a life changing experience for Mac Smith. It was at that point that he decided he wanted to help people the same way he was helped. Being determined to help people he then attended Life University which has no equal in the quality of education and training in the chiropractic field. Graduating with a Doctor in Chiropractic in 2009 he then decided to work in a Roswell office for the next three years where he was able to begin his journey in helping others achieve their goals by getting them pain free. Then in 2013 Synergy Release Sports invited Mac Smith to join their team. At Synergy Release Sports, he was then trained by Michael Hatrak in the Synergy Release Technique that has been successful in helping every day injuries to fixing over 600 professional athletes. The new technique only taught to a handful of doctors nationwide allows Mac Smith to the ability to have more tools in helping each patient. His mission is to have a positive impact in service to this community and to empower people to be the best they can possibly be.
Dr. William Cohl
I’m often asked where my interest in Applied Kinesiology began. I had what you would describe today as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I was in school training to be a chiropractor when my energy dropped to a level bordering between fatigue and exhaustion. No matter what I did, I could not increase my energy level. As a side effect, I began to experience depression (today many medical doctors debate whether depression causes low energy or low energy causes depression). Not having energy to continue with my studies, I had to drop out of school.
I sought treatment from both medical doctors and chiropractors. All of them wanted to help, but nothing worked. This created a hopeless situation because I couldn't find a medical treatment to help me. This continued for almost three years.
Then I heard about a doctor who practiced something called Applied Kinesiology. I had no idea what Applied Kinesiology was and after seeing so many health practitioners who had not helped me, it was only desperation that got me into his office. After listening to my symptoms, he explained that Applied Kinesiology deals with the body as a whole not individual symptoms. This made a lot of sense to me considering all I have been doing is chasing my symptoms and getting no results. He used a dandelion as an example saying "if you cut the weed off at the top, all its going to do is grow back. You have to address the root of the weed to get rid of it." He said that if we look at the root causes of your fatigue, you'll be surprised to see it will be a combination of physical, chemical, and mental/emotional issues.
As I started, I was somewhat skeptical about his treatments, questioning them each step of the way because some of it didn't make any sense! When I started seeing amazing breakthroughs in how I felt, the skepticism turned into amazement. In a short time I went from feeling chronically fatigued to having an incredible amount of energy. I noticed that my depression lifted and my entire outlook on life changed. I was blown away by the results.
My life changed after seeing him. I went in feeling depressed and fatigued and I left feeling great. I also left with "tools" that I continually used throughout my life. I returned to school, got my degree as a doctor of chiropractic and began concentrating on the area of Applied Kinesiology. Now I'm in the position to help people the way this doctor helped me.
Helping people regain their health has been incredibly rewarding. I've been able to help people regain their lives just like mine was regained. The relief from chronic issues is why many patients come to me and it is truly gratifying to them, but helping people regain their energy to live their lives fully will always be most satisfying to me.

Josh first attended Georgia College and State University and received both a Bachelors in Exercise Science and Masters in Kinesiology. During his time in school, he became more and more passionate about learning what the human body is capable of and continued to learn more about movement. He was able to apply his knowledge through personal training, but felt that there was something still missing for human movement to thrive. Josh then followed his passion towards massage therapies and its many ways of healing the body so that movement could be restored and flourish. Josh then completed massage therapy school at Georgia Massage School in Suwannee, GA and feels absolutely privileged to have learned from the best teachers in the nation.
Josh’s true passion lies in his unquenchable thirst for knowledge and believes that mastery of a topic is never reached but constantly sought after. Since Josh’s appetite for movement sciences is never satisfied, his primary focus during each session is to figure out the “Why?” for each problem and complaint. Josh’s main goal is to discover what exactly is going on and to put the patient on the fastest road to recovery.
After spending some time in Washington as a newlywed, Josh and his wife recently moved back and currently live in the Cumming area. They could not be happier being back with friends and family. He feels truly blessed to be working at Synergy Release Sports with such a great team that believes in the same philosophies and encourages him to grow every day.

Maddy has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005, where he graduated from High Tech Institute with an A.S. in Massage Therapy. As a LMT of 14 years, he has developed his own unique style of addressing the fascia directly, through merging his knowledge of active release therapy, meridian theory, reflexology, and physiotherapy. Over a 10 year span, he has found fascia restrictions to be the facilitators of our aches and pains created by sedentary injuries; how we sleep, how we sit, and how we stand for extended periods of time.
In 2005, Maddy trained under the late Adrian Carr, co founder of Rising Spirit school of massage, beginning his introduction into sports medicine and kinesiology. In 2006, Maddy began extensive training under Ko Tan in the techniques of Tai Chi, Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Meridian Theory, and Reflexology.
In 2009, Maddy began his journey into the world of physiotherapy when he began training under Ira Wikel and Pat Barnes in direct fascial engagement techniques, and learning the many intricacies of our fascia.
