Laser therapy is the application of red light and near infrared radiation. These photons of light penetrate deep into tissue and power the synthesis of (ATP) adenosine triphosphate.  ATP is a molecule that is the major carrier of energy from one reaction site to another, in all living cells.  ATP therefore increases the energy available to all cells so that the cell can take in nutrients faster and expel waste products rapidly.

In straightforward terms, the cells of tendons, ligaments, cartilage, bone and muscles are repaired faster when exposed to laser light. HOW MUCH FASTER? A good rule of thumb is that healing time is reduced by one-half to two-thirds the time it would normally take, all other factors remaining. Simply stated, Laser accelerates healing, increases collagen formation, blocks pain transmitted by nerve cells, reduces swelling and edema and increases lymphatic drainage.

It is used for the treatment of sports injuries, several chronic pain syndromes and some non-healing wounds such as venous and diabetic ulcers.

Laser therapy aims to “bio-stimulate” injured and dysfunctional tissues. A huge amount of research data has been collected on the effects of laser therapy (over 2000 double-blind studies) both in laboratory and clinical settings. Clinical studies and trials of therapeutic lasers indicate the following beneficial effects on tissues and cells:

  • Accelerated Soft & Hard Tissue Repair / Cell Growth
  • Anti- Inflammation
  • Faster Wound Healing
  • Reduced Scar tissue formation
  • Anti-Pain (Analgesic) effect
  • Improved Vascular Activity
  • Improved Metabolic Activity
  • Improved Nerve Function
  • Increased Immune System Response

While the list is extensive with our own clinical success and research, the following conditions were treated with improvement and resolution.

  • Cervical Strain / Sprain
  • Cervical Radiculopathy (Radiating Nerve Pain)
  • Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)
  • Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • TMJD (Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction)
  • Biceps Tendon Injury

Synergy Release Sports is excited to introduce to the North Fulton community the best laser on the market today, the “Avicenna Class IV Therapeutic Laser“.  The Avicenna laser has truly bridged the gap utilizing both cold and hot laser applications. A hot laser simply implies the depth of penetration. Cold lasers are effective to a point while the hot laser can go deeper into heavy muscle tissue.
